Classic Lard Soap, Unscented - Old-Fashioned Lard Soap, Unscented Plain Lard Soap for Everyday

Only 3 left in stock

When I first made this unscented "old-fashioned" lard soap, I realized that the "fresh n' clean" type scent in commercial soaps is really just trying to imitate this!  Soap - just plain, simple, unscented, all-natural SOAP - smells amazing!!  It smells like... well... soap!  This is an updated version of "good ole-fashioned" lard soap - almost entirely real lard (80%), but with a bit of coconut oil (20%) for better lather and conditioning.   This 4 oz bar comes hand-wrapped in brown paper, and labelled with the complete ingredients (simply lard, coconut oil, lye, and rain water).  (Please check out my About Handmade Soap page if the word “lye” makes you a bit nervous).

I use real lard from pastured, non-GMO-fed pigs raised down the road here in Tennessee by a fellow small, sustainable, off-grid family farm.  I render the lard myself, often on my woodstove "just like the old days".  While lard soap often has a reputation for being harsh or rough on skin, that is largely because many years ago, lye was not consistently refined, and people didn't use precision measurements. Today, with 100% pure lye and my digital scale, lard makes a beautiful white soap, very hard and long-lasting, with good cleaning power, while being very gentle and soothing on skin. I have gotten great reviews, both in person and through my Etsy shop, about how wonderful this soap is for skin - gentle, moisturizing, cleansing, and no residue!

If you've thought about using handmade lard soap, but prefer the convenience of liquid soaps, check out my new liquid Classic Lard soap: Classic Lard Liquid Soap for Squirt-Pump Dispenser or Classic Lard Liquid Soap for Foaming Dispenser - they're both available in unscented!

And if you know you love this soap, you can stock up with 6 Unscented Bars, or try some scented versions with 6 Scented Square Bars or 6 Scented "Fancy" Molded Bars.

Or, if you know that even though real soap is super-moisturizing, you still like to have a little hand balm or body butter for when you need it, consider getting some Grass-fed Tallow Balm - it's made with tallow from our own Scottish Highland cattle, and is available in 25 different fragrances, custom fragrance blending, or unscented.

I know this is an unusually low price compared to most handmade soap, but I want to offer a soap that is economical for everyday use, and since it is 3/4 free local lard rather than exotic imported oils, my input costs are very low (other than the days spent rendering lard of course!). We try to live as “lightly” as possible, and I want to help make that an option for others as well.

Other soap companies are just that – SOAP companies – but we are a small, family homestead that produces handmade soap as one facet of our diverse, small-scale farm so that we can both raise our 3 home-schooled boys and teach them how to love and care for the world around them through animals, gardens, and the joy, satisfaction, and confidence that comes from knowledge and capability. If you're interested in finding out more about our homestead, stop by our blog and photo galleries here, or take a peek at our Instagram page, or pop over to our Facebook page. Thanks for checking out our products, and supporting small farms and handcrafter artisans!
