Old-Fashioned Lard Soap, Rosemary Fig Curl Soap - Old-Fashioned Lard Soap for Gifts, Naturally Colored Real Soap for Women, Great for Gifts and Everyday

Only 1 left in stock

These bars just say "spring" to me, with a bright, fruity Rosemary Fig fragrance and natural mica colors in deep rose and light leafy green.  This scent is new to me, and one of my new favorites.  It's herbal, and fruity, and rounded and juicy, with a zing from the rosemary and sweet from the fig.

This is my first "curl" soap, using curliques from bars of rose-colored soap, embedded in a second pour of spring green soap, then hand-cut and trimmed to showcase the design made by the soap curls.  Stay tuned for a "confetti" soap, made using the trimmings from this soap - I try not to waste anything, and this soap is both beautiful and luscious-smelling, I will definitely be utilizing every bit of it!

These handmade lard soaps come in brown paperboard boxes, labelled with complete ingredients - just lard, coconut oil & lye for the green soap, and lard, coconut, ????.  Please check out my About Handmade Soap page if you're hesitant when you see the word “lye”, and also take a look at Our Handcrafting Process page for an inside look at how we make soap here at Solace Farm Homestead.
Lard makes a beautiful soap, very hard and long-lasting, with good cleaning power, while being very gentle and soothing on skin. I have gotten great reviews, both in person and through my Etsy shop, about how wonderful this soap is for skin - gentle, moisturizing, cleansing, and no residue! Customers say:

  • "Forget buying' Lush' soaps and shampoo bars. These products are better! I always wanted to try lard soap. I loved the shop's story and who wouldn't love the price? I put my money on THIS lard soap and found out that it is THE BEST soap I have ever tried! It has left my skin soft and silky. I bought unscented and it smells so ...clean! Really! The lather is wonderful. Who knew?"
  • "Ok listen. I have been on a mad search for the best tallow soap for like, months. I wanted tallow because I find veg oil soaps to leave that sticky film I can’t stand. I found one other lard soap that doesn’t leave a film, but I was still missing something. Then I found this. It’s PERFECT. No weird residue. No sticky. Soap has a great feel. And the best part? It LATHERS. It’s SO GREAT. Seriously, it’s been a long time coming and I’m so happy. "

If you're interested in using handmade lard soap, but are more comfortable using liquid soaps, check out my new liquid Classic Lard soap, in 2 versions: Classic Lard Liquid Soap for Squirt-Pump Dispenser or Classic Lard Liquid Soap for Foaming Dispenser

As amazingly moisturizing as good soap is, if you still like to have a little hand balm or body butter for when you need it, consider getting some Grass-fed Tallow Balm - it's made with tallow from our own Scottish Highland cattle or Tunis sheep, and is available in over 25 different fragrances, custom fragrance blending, or unscented. I also can't live without my tallow lip balm, made with our own sheep or beef tallow, beeswax, and lanolin.

I know this is a surprisingly low price compared to most good, handmade soap, but I want to offer a soap that (while still high quality of course!) is economical for everyday use, and since it is 3/4 free local lard rather than exotic imported oils, my input costs are very low (other than the days spent rendering lard of course!). We try to live as “lightly” as possible, and I want to help make that an option for others as well.
