Wrapped in our own alpaca fleece, this bar comes with a built-in cloth! The fleece is lightly felted, and will continue to felt and shrink as it's used, making a great lather and scrubbing cloth.  In keeping with our farm motto, "By Hand", we do everything here on Solace Farm, by hand, from the soaping to the wool prep to the dying to the felting.
I start with making my own soap - well, first I milk my dairy goat Elena.  Then, I make my own soap using luxurious oils like olive, avocado, and sweet almond, and shea butter.  I don't use palm oil, as it is controversial in it's role in deforestation and exploitation around the world, and this recipe doesn't need it.  I also make the same soap, but without the goat milk, making it vegetarian/vegan friendly!  It is so moisturizing and good for your skin, with extra vitamins and nutrients from the goat milk, as well as the quality oils I use.  If you have used goat milk soap before, or any good handmade soap, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying!  When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin.  A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin!  This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it.  In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package.  I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my grass-fed tallow balm on my hands occasionally.

"I just finished up this soap and I loved it! The felt is a different experience and makes the shower a much more pleasurable event. The soap is very foamy and left my skin soft and slightly scented. Thank you!"

I use only our own alpaca fleece for felting these scrubbie bars, from our flock of 16 beautiful pacas.  I carefully clean and sort the fleece, taking out any guard hair to make sure it's extra-soft (alpaca wool is already much softer than sheep wool, so this is a felted soap you can even use on sensitive or tender skin!).  I hand-dye some of the wool, and use some in it's natural beauty (my personal favorite is Mr. Alabama's gorgeous chocolate-black, it makes such a striking bar!)

Choose any of the available fragrances - my soap is one recipe, the best I've found, and I make a vegetarian/vegan version with water, and a goat milk version with my own hand-milked goat milk (marked GM on the fragrance list).  Each soap will be labelled with the exact ingredients - olive, coconut, almond, avocado, and castor oils and Shea butter. Fleece color will vary - any of the natural colors my alpacas come in (white, cream, beige, tan, light-, medium-, or dark-brown, chocolate-black, and gray) or one of the unique, hand-dyed shades I've made just for this (lavender, hot pink, deep purple, pale turquoise, baby blue, sunshine yellow, or whatever fun shade I've discovered recently!).  Specify natural or hand-dyed and include a note if you have a specific color preference or dislike, such as “no orange!!” or “it’s for a guy”.
When the soap is finished, simply toss the remaining felt ball in the compost (it's a great protein/nitrogen boost), or follow one customer's lead, and use it to scrub your grout first!
